This book was my final senior project in order to complete my Visual Communication DegreeFor the capstone project on my Visual Communication degree, I partnered with past Decorah, IA business owner, Hannah Garry to put some incredible recipes from Blazing Star, a Vegetarian Bistro, to the page. This book put both my design eye and photography skills to the test and allowed us to showcase tasty homemade sauces for folks to make at home. We sold more than 100 copies in a few short months, and I got a glance into a new corner of the graphic design world.
Page Layouts
This was my first time experimenting through food photography. I really wanted to dive into the senses that surround food, but through photos. Macro photography gave me the tools to execute this vision.
Macro Shots
As some of the sauces started looking the same it was crucial to make each one stand out in their own way. At times it felt as though the sauce was my paint on the canvas. Creating fun and interesting photos with the materials handed to me was a challenge and it was so rewarding when the final product came around.
